Why Invest In Costa Rica?
This is a beautiful country, located in Central America, bordered by Nicaragua to the north, Panama to the south-southeast, by the pacific ocean to the west, and by the Caribbean sea to the east.
It measures just over 51000 square kilometers. The country is referred as the "Switzerland of Central America" because of it’s beautiful places to visit, the kindness of it’s people and the most important thing, for not having an army.
The Weather
Costa Rica is a tropical country, situated between 8 and 11 degrees above the equator. It has only 2 seasons: Dry and Green.
The dry season will be between late December and April and the wet season lasts the rest of the year –May through November, but still offers an average of 5 hours of daily sunshine. The Caribbean coast does not have this extended dry weather. It will stay green pretty much all year round, but with a high humidity.
The Flora and Fauna (The Biodiversity)
Costa Rica is home to a rich variety of plants and animals.
The country has only about 0.1% of the world’s landmass, but still contains 5% of the world’s biodiversity. Over 25% is composed of protected forests and reserves.
National Park Corcovado is located in Costa Rica, and it is very well renowned for it’s biodiversity between ecologists. Also, National park Tortuguero which is home to hundreds of different species of plants and animals, and most of all recognized for the annual nesting of the endangered green turtle.
Culture
Costa Ricans often refer to themselves as Ticos. Costa Ricans are very friendly, helpful, educated and environmentally aware people. The phrase
"PURA VIDA" is a ubiquitous motto in the country and it means nothing but living in peace, in a calm unclustered manner, living around nature, family and friends.
Education
Education in Costa Rica is very high, The literacy in the country goes up to a 96% (CIA World Fact book, February 2007) being one of the highest in Latin America. Elementary and high schools are found throughout the country. Universal public education is guaranteed in the constitution.
Economy
Our economy is based on tourism and the export of agricultural products such as coffee and bananas and electronics, among others. The pacific and the Caribbean part of the country are lined with luxury hotel resorts. We have the second biggest GDP per capita in Latin America. Poverty has been reduced over the past 20 years, and a social safety net put into place. Economic growth rebounded from -0.9% in 1996 to 4% in 1997, 6% in 1998 and 7% in 1999, and growing with time. |
